Brunswick House which was formerly called Brunswick Cottage was one of the first houses to be built in Ventnor at a time when the Victorians were just discovering the beauty of the island. It is a four star guest house offering bed and breakfast accomodation. All rooms are en-suite with colour TVs, CD radio alarm clocks, shaver points and beverage facilities.

On street parking is available and the house is within a few yards of a number of local car parks which are free from 6pm until 8am daily. Guests may also purchase parking permits which allow them to park in any council run car park without further charge whilst staying on the Island. We can provide the permits or they can be purchased from any tourist information centre.

We also offer mobile broadband access here.

We ask our customers to pay a deposit of £50.00 to use this technology. The deposit is fully refunded upon return of the device.

The public areas of the house are set out similarly to the Victorian era. There is a lounge for receiving guests and a formal dining room complete with the large dining table and sideboard.

No wall, doorway or corridor is straight but this old house has stood the test of time. When other houses have been victim to the moving land on which Ventnor was built; Brunswick House has stood proudly. It has withstood two world wars even surviving a bomb strike in world war two.

This house has still to reveal many secrets. We now know that the “void” described in the plans actually contains a huge stone buttress that stabilises the land on which the house is built. We have also found that the kitchen used to have a well in the centre and we believe that there might be more surprises to be found as we get to know the place over time.
